Kansas City - July 14, 2008

Union Station - We planned on seeing an Imax movie here, and also going to Science City to see dinosaurs and go to a railroad museum. But alas, everything is closed on Mondays, so we settled for chocolate-covered twinkies instead. Ryan's favorite BBQ place

Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'

Conner loves being on his tummy and has started rolling from his back to his stomach, but he hasn't quite figured out how to get that left arm out from under him, so he just sucks on it.

4th of July

We had lots of fun on the 4th. We got up way too early to have breakfast with Grandpa Jan & Grandma Nancy at their annual church celebration. There were lots of games for the kids (including Dad). Later that afternoon we had a BBQ at Grandpa's house and the kids swam all evening instead of eating. But Ryan and I ate enough for everyone. Then we watched fireworks at the Sunrise Mall from the back of our van. I thought the loudness would scare Conner and make him scream, but he was great. He had big huge wide eyes and nursed furiously the entire time.

Thumb Sucker

Conner is a thumb-sucker!! He loves his thumb and is always either sucking on it or frantically searching for it. We think it's cute, hopefully we won't regret it later when he's 17 and still sucking his thumb.

We've Moved!

Our house is finished and we're moved in! Well, sort of. Everything is in the middle of every room because we're painting, and we wake up every morning at 5:30 am because we don't have blinds installed yet. But we're excited and happy......and dreadfully tired.
More pictures forthcoming.

Domestic Diva

Yeah, that's right. I made this. With my sewing machine. I'm unstoppable. This burp cloth of perfection took me 2 1/2 hours to make and I am so proud of myself. My ward started a sewing class and I'm on fire!!

Gas Gouging

This post is in my brother's honor, who recently complained about paying $59.92 to fill up his car with gas. Never forget, Robert, it can always be worse!!!

Cub Scout Twilight Camp - Family Day

We had a fun day at RJ's last day of Twilight Camp. It was a Medieval Theme with lots of fun games. RJ was excited to show us all of the fun things he did all week. Here, RJ & Braden are "jousting". The red bouncy ball is the "horse." Sienna's favorite part of the day were all the snacks. Notice the dried up ice cream all over her face! Here is the "King's Cup" game, and of course, Braden is pouting about it "not being fair."

8 Hours of Sleep!!!

I took this picture to commemorate the first full night's sleep since Conner was born! On June 3rd, at exactly 2 months old, Conner slept an entire 8 hours! Of course, it hasn't happened again since. But still.

Heroes All

RJ and his fellow 2nd graders performed this show. RJ had three speaking parts that he had practiced perfectly, never once made a mistake. At the show, he suffered from stage fright at the very beginning, but was able to recover and give his next two lines perfect.

Sleeping Accommodations

This morning I woke up and realized that Conner has outgrown his bed! He's been sleeping in this basket provided by Aunt Theresa since we came home from the hospital. I put it on my nightstand so I could just slide him over for late-night feedings, very convenient in those early days after a C-section, when I couldn't bend or lift, or move much. Now I don't know where to put him! We're saving a crib purchase for our new house at the end of the month. So he may have to squeeze into this teeny basket for another month! We'll see how it goes. They grow too fast.....

TAXES!!!

For the past three years, Ryan and I have filed our taxes an entire year late. Well, I'm proud to say the cycle is breaking! I just filed my 2007 taxes TODAY!! Only about 6 weeks late, it's a miracle!

Mohawk Brothers

Dad took the boys to get their haircut and they finally got the mohawks they've desired for about a year now! So cute. They LOVE all the attention they're getting! RJ's Mohawk Braden's "faux" hawk

In honor of Memorial Day, Conner wore his Army uniform to church yesterday. This uniform belonged to his big brother, Braden, and was made by Grandma Shirley for Aunt Theresa's wedding 6 years ago.

Prima Ballerina

Sienna trying to pose like Grandma Nancy's beautiful dancer statue.

Blessing Day

Conner's blessing day was a big day. It was also Mother's Day and his big cousin Justin's missionary farewell. It was a happy, memorable day, and we are all so proud of Justin and his choice to serve a mission. He leaves for Brazil today! He is the handsome boy standing next to the baby (not the daddy, the other one!).

All-Star

After last year's silliness, we thought Braden would opt out of T-ball this year. But no, he insisted he wanted to play. And now the same antics continue, digging in the dirt, looking for bugs, laying on the ground, walking instead of running, anything but real baseball. Dad has taken to standing on the field with him in hopes of keeping him at least facing the right direction and protecting him from any baseballs that come too near.

My Baby is Advanced!!

In our family, we have an ongoing joke where we tease each other about whose baby is more advanced. Well, here is proof that I win, my baby is 5 weeks old and is rolling over! Truthfully, it makes me more sad than exultant, I really want him to stay little.

First Smile

Capturing that first smile has proven to be more difficult than expected. The flash from my camera seemed to only capture a stunned, deer caught in the headlights, expression. But after trying for 3 days, we got something resembling a smile.

Cinco de Mayo

The Pinney's Cinco de Mayo Celebration! We had burritos for dinner and a pinata for dessert.

Pot Belly

Conner is getting too big, too fast. I put this cute little tank top on him for the first time, and it was already too small! He wore it all day anyway, with his little belly hanging out!

Conner's 1st Bath

Conner's 1st real bath and not of the sponge variety, took place on the kitchen counter, where he stared at his reflection in the window most of the time. It went pleasantly enough, until the removal from said tub, then things went quickly unpleasant to traumatic in a matter of minutes.

Conner finds his thumb

I've heard so many arguments about thumb sucking, how it's bad for their teeth and about the yucky germs. But at the end of the day, you can't lose a thumb like you can a binkie, and let's face it, it's just too cute.
